which reminds me: I'm not sure just accumulating emails is the best
way to manage this (perhaps it's the only practical one)

Andrew, Jim & I had tried to use the blog for longer things (with email
notes to point to the updates)

at any event - Michael, would you mind if we copied some of your
comments onto wikipages (for eventual blog posting etc) -
we'd either credit your comments or just keep you as a co-author
if that ever becomes and issue?
