I'm thinking that we could perhaps subset it and loose some of the complexity.  I'm all for a simple model, and I believe that the copy and concatenate model is rather simple, but we don't have a semantics for it.   I was wondering if we could save ourselves some work, and expose only the complexity that we need to cope with the features that we have.
